CSI Crime & Passion – Case Closed
Our 17th Luncheon, CSI—Crime & Passion was a fabulous sell out and our “wanna be” forensics guests were eager to learn all they could to solve the Crime Scene Investigation. Durham College Forensic students were on hand to teach our guests about stab wounds, fingerprinting and blood spatter among other crime scene protocols and did an outstanding job. Congratulations to Ruby Zinsmeister who had the top score as well as Terry Mayer who will both, along with a friend spend a day with the ETF team. What a prize! Congratulations!
Guests once again enjoyed a delicious gourmet meal created by Pelican Catering which was served with the help of DRPS officers. We would like to thank you all for attending and for all you do with the ProAction Cops & Kids charity. We hope that many of our guests had the opportunity to meet Blitz the K9 unit dog along with his owner/officer and that you had the chance to get your photo taken with them as well.
Our Let’s Do Business networking area was buzzing with many businesses who were connecting and learning about each other and how they can work together. Paul Howson and his colleague from Kavar Jewelers hosted the Gold for Cash exchange and many of our guests brought in their old gold to receive instant cash. Kavar Jewelers donated $70.00 back to the charity – thank you!
We welcomed new and renewing members to the Let’s Do Lunch family and also want to congratulate – Kim Coppetii from Coppetti and Co. who won a 1 year membership to Let’s Do Lunch in our Early Bird contest and also to Let’s Do Lunch member Dr. MacAskill the winner of a free business table at our next luncheon. Congratulations as well to Kirstine Farmer of Ramnor Steel the winner of a One Year Membership to Let’s Do Lunch from the Raffle Table. Welcome everyone! We invite you to check out our fabulous new website and learn why you should consider joining Let’s Do Lunch—we really do have the most dynamic and energetic business owners!
Nancy Shaw, Chair of ProAction Cops & Kids and their board were in attendance and were a pleasure to work so closely with. These volunteer members are passionate about what they do and they really embody what Let’s Do Lunch is all about— helping each other and giving back to the community where we see a need. Nancy shared the following: “Our day with the Let’s Do Lunch bunch was awesome! Our “Crime & Passion” theme was a real hit with everyone! We are so grateful to Sue and Deb for the opportunity to be a part of their event. Thank you on behalf of Pro Action Cops & Kids.”
Inspector Dave Wilson, DRPS and volunteer police liaison with Pro Action Cops & Kids Durham Chapter also sent his comments on the lunch to share with our guests: “It was extremely rewarding to partner with “Lets Do Lunch”. The officers enjoyed participating and bringing an awareness about their involvement with our youth to our business community. The positive interaction of youth and police is extremely important. At the event, the enthusiasm and warm response to these officers was very pleasing. I felt very proud for my officers on this day. I felt good knowing we reached out to over 130 people and promoted Police and Youth in a positive light. All people who attended should feel proud for contributing to making a difference for our youth.”
The room was silent as Joe Tilley, Sports Anchor CTV News Toronto, shared his life story with us. Joe had everyone captivated and we were very inspired about how he has overcome many challenges in his life. He is a true inspiration to all and especially to the youth that ProAction Cops & Kids reaches out to. Thank you Joe for taking the time to join us and to share yourself with our guests.
To everyone who helped make this day such an amazing success through your donations to door prizes, raffles and our take away bags thank you all for your generosity. You are all amazing! Overall we were able to raise over $2070.00 for Pro Action. To learn more about Pro Action please visit their website at www.copsandkids.ca or call 905-579-1520 ext 1717.
